Forest Grove Concours d’Elegance

Sunday, July 20 was a perfect day for the Forest Grove Concours d’Elegance! We had a bright but cloudy day, which kept the temps moderate and was perfect for photography. This was my first time at the FG, and I was very impressed by the casual atmosphere as well as the very eclectic collection of cars on the beautiful grounds of Pacific University. The Alfa Romeo Corral had 11 cars in total, and together, they were a nice representation of the marque. Thanks to all the AROO’ers who participated!
It’s always fun at a non-Alfa car show; people are so excited to talk about our little cars! I know many of us answered lots of questions about them, and many people told us about Alfas in their past and how they loved them. Personally, I spoke to two Alfa owners not in the club (one has since joined!) who were eager to get their cars back on the road.
It’s a great event to walk around and see all the different car classes represented. Cars were either in “Corrals” like the Alfas (and Shelbys and British) or they are in classes based on year and type (pre-war Closed, for example). Fun to see what people bring to a show like this! And fun to see who from AROO shows up! I talked with Jim Trofitter, Mark Carpenter, David Salvador, and Alex & Amy Haugland, and walked around and talked a lot with Marc Ereminas. In summary, Forest Grove is truly a little “gem” of a car show in a beautiful setting, and it’s right here! If you’ve never been, you should plan to be there next year – hopefully the Alfa Romeo Corral will be even larger!
