So far, so good! This is the second month of the new AlfaBits (should we now call it the “AlfaBitsBlog”?). I’ve had a few positive emails and zero negative ones… so either you are all OK with this, or you aren’t reading my blog! If you have comments (positive or ‘constructive’), please send them my way – president@alfa-club.org.
First things first – this iteration of the AlfaBits only works if you visit the website and especially the Event Calendar page! We are trying to keep all the events and information updated so this is the place to go for everything AROO.
July is here! The month is very busy with events, and we want to see you participating in all of them! I hope that you have all registered for the Forest Grove Alfa Corral on July 20 th – the deadline is passed, but if you act NOW, perhaps we can sneak you in. I just sent out an email about the event, so take a look at it for registration info. If you have registered, and have not sent Steve Hunker an email, please click HERE to do so – Steve is trying to manage the corral.
Forest Grove is the second event of a packed weekend! The annual AROO Summer Wine Tour is on Saturday, July 19. Russ Paine has laid out a great tour and a stop at one of his ‘hideaway wineries’ for us. We normally have 15-18 cars sign up, and we are just under half of that as of now. Here’s something a bit unusual! Sheri Harbor de Vos, formally active in Portland Avants, is organizing a series of “Hot Summer Nights” cruise-ins at Portland International Raceway. July 9 (Wednesday) is Italian Day, and we are all invited to participate. The link is HERE – click on “SCHEDULE” at the top and you’ll find HSN- Italian. Admission is $5/person in your car, and gates open at 3pm. It sounds super-
casual – no advance registration required. There will be food trucks there – if you find yourself free on Wednesday, July 9, give this a try! If you do, take pictures and we will post them on the AROO website!
So, let’s NOT talk about the June event… specifically the “SummerFun” tour and picnic. Why the Oregon weather gods decided to pick THAT weekend to dump over 1 ½ inches of rain on our house is beyond me… I was bummed that we had to cancel this event, as it’s the one closest to my heart (and to my address!). Anyway, next year – we WILL be back!
There are many events coming up in August as well – because it’s so busy with non- AROO stuff, we look a little light for our events… but we are working on adding some.
And September and October… PACKED! We will be updating the calendar soon with some new events, and will be revising some others.
Finally, I’ve decided to sell my 1991 Spider. We will be getting a classified page up soon (I’m now personally invested in getting this done!). It’s red over tan, has 69k miles, 5-speed with Panasports. I’ve owned it since 2012. It’s not a show car, but a really nice driver… and the price is reflective of that – $9,300.
